Surveillance Detection Awareness on the Job - Virtual Roundtable event on HSIN
The Office of Infrastructure Protection’s (IP) Sector-Specific Agency Executive Management Office (SSA EMO) and Partnership and Outreach Division (POD), with assistance from the Surveillance Detection workgroup, developed a 90-minute, highly interactive and visual, virtual roundtable, designed to raise the awareness of suspicious activities and behaviors that might indicate potential surveillance activities. An invitation to the roundtable is attached.
The target audience for this roundtable will be a full-range of employees working at critical infrastructure facilities, government agencies, governmental organizations, and private-sector owners and operators, including front-line supervisors such as security managers, facilities managers, human resource managers, compliance managers, and IT managers.
Surveillance Detection Awareness on the Job offers cross-sector examples of suspicious activities and behaviors. The roundtable will include a message from the Assistant Secretary, discussing the need for increased focus on surveillance and detection awareness, and referencing DHS’ See Something, Say Something campaign. Following remarks by Assistant Secretary Todd Keil, the moderator (SSA EMO’s Andrea Schultz) will take participants through five scenarios showcasing diverse examples of surveillance and detection. After the roundtable is presented live on September 9, it will be archived and available on HSIN-CS.
Everyday our critical infrastructure is at risk from people who seek to do harm and disrupt the American way of life. Keeping our facilities safe is a job for all of us. Surveillance Detection Awareness on the Job is part of Department of Homeland Security’s “See Something, Say Something” campaign to raise public awareness of potential indicators of terrorism, crime, and other threats, and to emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities. This free, online interactive session of video scenarios, commentary by a panel of experts, and your questions and comments will better prepare you to guard against surveillance activities.
